Investment Management Services

GDM ADVISORY GROUP, LTD. was founded on the basis of providing the most integrated planning services available for today's changing financial environment. Our investment approach and methodology has proven successful as evidenced by our growth and client retention. Our clients have assisted us in determining our future direction by requesting additional services. Our investment management services stem from such requests.

The investment management program offers all the benefits of our ongoing financial planning service, with additional investment features and capabilities. We maintain an institutional relationship with Charles Schwab & Co., Inc. By so doing, we can interface directly with each firm to monitor account status and develop custom designed investment programs.

Our investment process begins by gaining a complete understanding of a client’s overall financial circumstances, resources, and objectives. This clearer view enables us to generate a more tailored portfolio analysis and recommendation.

The Big Picture

GDM develops the overall asset allocation based on a variety of factors including savings capabilities, existing investment wealth, and pending capital expenditures, to name a few. We strongly believe that many conventional axioms make great sound bites, but poor advice. Accordingly, our clients employ a customized mix of fixed income and equity exposure in their portfolios. The customization lies in this global asset allocation and the weighting of the selected individual securities.

Fixed Income

We utilize a combination of exchange traded funds (ETFs), mutual funds, and individual fixed income securities with emphasis on short to intermediate term maturities. We make specific recommendations on the use of taxable versus tax-exempt issues and construct the fixed income portfolio accordingly.

EQUITY BASED MUTUAL FUNDS AND ETFs

The equity (or variable) portion of the portfolio consists of a variety of specifically selected mutual funds and exchange traded funds (ETFs) working in a complementary manner. Borrowing on the tenets of modern portfolio theory, GDM utilizes a proprietary blend of large cap, midcap, and small-cap mutual funds. All funds utilized are no-load, no transaction fee (NTF) funds or institutional class funds.

Hybrid Non-Discretionary Management

While we have discretion to execute transactions for your account, we generally, absent mitigating circumstances, obtain client approval prior to the execution of any transaction. This process is consistent with our belief involving empowerment and informed decision making. Additionally, in the event that our recommendation is inconsistent with your vision, our process offers you opportunities to consult with us to adjust the strategy to fit your needs.

Reduced Volatility

Portfolio stability can be enhanced by utilizing carefully selected mutual funds investing with different styles. While any fund viewed on its own may exhibit greater volatility, the combination of asset classes together may allow your portfolio to maintain a more even keel.

A Balanced Strategy

Incorporating a mix of fixed investments and multi-asset class mutual fund investments can generate superior returns over the long-term. Many studies have shown that this type of approach can augment overall performance due to the variability of performance amongst asset classes on an annual basis.

Research

GDM conducts its own research through a variety of mechanisms. We have access to a number of fixed income bond desks, purchase databases of mutual fund information, and participate in conference calls with mutual fund managers on a regular basis. When possible, we meet individually with managers and fund representatives at site visits and various conferences.

Ongoing Review & Reporting

GDM reviews client portfolios on a regular and continuous basis and advises clients of any suggested changes along with our respective recommendations. We implement transaction requests electronically with the custodian mentioned above. We provide regular quarterly updates to our financial analyses, portfolio summaries, and detailed investment reporting. Additionally, we provide all tax reporting relative to a client's non-retirement plan holdings.
